The Doug Forsythe Gallery boasts a rich history of creativity and transformation. Founded in 1970 in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, the gallery initially operated from a converted apple storage barn in Greenwich, which served as a studio, gallery, and living quarters. This innovative purpose-built space underscored a commitment to both art and a harmonious living-work environment.
In 1979, the gallery moved to the historic town of Niagara-on-the-Lake in southern Ontario. Over 38 years, it became a vibrant cultural hub, gaining global recognition for its artistic contributions.
The gallery’s journey came full circle in 2017 when Doug & Marsha Forsythe returned to Nova Scotia, settling in Chester. This relocation fulfilled a long-held aspiration to create an architecturally designed space that perfectly integrated living and creative pursuits, emphasizing their dedication to both their craft and a meaningful lifestyle.
